          ABOUT SALES

              TO THE UK & EU.

                                      Date 13-04-2023

VAT info for the UK & EU countries.

As of the 01/01/2021, I only send items (to the UK) with a value above £135 + freight.

{Similar applies to the EU with a minimum value of €150 + freight}

For the all imports, above the stated values, VAT &/or duty applicable will be charged to the recipient, upon entry to their country.

For all imports below the stated values:-

Because of the new Customs & VAT rules in the UK {& EU}, that I would have to comply with.

I would have to work out & prepay all VAT &/or duties etc.

Get item HS Tariff Codes required to make a customs declaration and calculate duties on an import

Apply for a UK EORI {EU IOSS} number etc.

I'm only a one man business here & it is not worth all the extra work for small sales.

See extra info below (under PS note):-

PS:- In saying the above I just had a customer in the EU purchase parts off me.

He organize a third party freight forwarding company (called SHIPPN & their host in Australia) to take care of the shipping & taxes  etc.

All's I have to do is post it to their Host within Australia, I'm willing to do that.

I do not know what they charge for this service or who they use for shipping or how reliable they are.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

EXTRA VAT INFO:-

The EU €22 import VAT exemption is going away
Going forward, VAT will apply to all imports up to €150, with the rate set by the EU country of the recipient.

The UK & some of the below applies to the EU as well.

From 1 January 2021, the collection of duties and taxes for the import of commercial goods into the UK will change with immediate effect.
The value-added tax (VAT) applicable to commercial items valued at £15 - £135 entering the UK will now be expanded to £0 - £135 (inclusive), meaning the £15 lower limit is abolished.

The VAT on these items will also now have to be pre-paid.

To pre-pay VAT and avoid additional costs, from January 2021 sellers will need to ensure they have:

  • a GB Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) number before shipping their goods
  • the HS Tariff Code required to make a customs declaration and calculate duties on an import
  • the customs value of goods - needed to make a customs declaration and calculate duties on import.

Please note there is no change to the current process for commercial goods with a value above £135 and €150, VAT or/or duty applicable to these items will continue to be charged to the recipient, upon entry to their country.

Thank you for your understanding on this matter & sorry for the inconvenience.
